Sarah, scuba diver enthusiast currently based in Melbourne, Victoria. My diving adventure started 10 years ago when I lucky to spend a year living on Grand Cayman. Everyone I met compared their weekend dives, and I wanted to see what all the excitement was about!

From the moment I descended during a discover scuba course I was in awe of the vibrant underwater world that awaited exploration. Instantly I was hooked, completing my open water course as quickly as possible, my diving hobby had begun.

During my time on the island I progressed my diving abilities and trained as a divemaster, eventually working at my local dive shop, The Lobster Pot.

I have travelled to a few overseas locations for diving and the list continues to grow. The most surreal experience was diving with whale sharks in the Maldives, with their elegance, their speed, their beauty and also realising as humans we are tiny in comparison but have a huge impact on their habitat. Having dive sites on my doorstep now certainly makes it easier to go underwater exploring. Whilst I have always taken underwater pictures to showcase the underwater world, since diving the piers of Port Phillip Bay and seeing the amazing life that people walk above without knowing, I developed a passion of wanting to improve my picture quality to document the beauty below.

The excitement of finding the tiny Nudibranchs or resident seahorses and Octopus never ends.   With the support from the team at The Scuba Doctor in Rye, they have helped made this possible. As a beginner photographer I didn’t have lights not really knowing why people use them. After completing an underwater photography skill course at The Scuba Doctor I understood the need for lights. Initially juggling a camera and a normal torch it was time to upgrade.

The OrcaTorch D910V lights are the perfect addition to my set up. They provide adequate lighting with 3 settings to adjust brightness depending on the natural light filtering down, easy to use with gloves, battery life lasting the entire dive even when on maximum brightness (dives around 60-90mins depending on season) and easy charging. Instantly they improved my pictures and highlighted subjects perfectly.  Diving developed quickly from a hobby to a passion, as I continue diving I am eager to explore more dive destinations, see more underwater species in their habitat and to continue developing my underwater photography.
