Marissa Eckert knew from her first discover scuba dive that she wanted to be an instructor and share the beauty of the underwater world with others. Fast forward to a life-changing trip to the Florida springs, where she decided that being a cave instructor was her path in life. She believed that if she could share the beauty of the aquifer with others, they would have no choice but to care about it. So, she packed all her belongings and moved to Florida.

Marissa pursued her dreams and became a cave instructor and dive shop owner. She lived in Florida for 13 years, teaching cave, technical, and rebreather diving while also honing her underwater photography skills. During those 13 years, she traveled the world, especially to the cenotes of Mexico whenever she had the chance. Now, she calls Mexico her home, specifically Tulum, and she loves it there. Nothing brings her more joy than sharing her passion for diving with others, whether through instruction, guiding, or photography.

She is also a cave instructor, and rebreather instructor on multiple units, and also loves teaching classes like cave dpv,  stage, and trimix.

As she embarks on her new journey with OrcaTorch, Marissa Eckert eagerly anticipates sharing the beauty of the underwater world, fulfilling the dream she embraced from that very first discover scuba dive.
