Based in Anilao, Philippines, Ram is a seasoned scuba instructor, technical diver, and underwater photographer with nearly two decades of experience exploring the depths of Southeast Asia. Renowned for pioneering Bonfire Diving, Ram developed this innovative technique to document the mesmerizing world of plankton and other nocturnal marine life in coastal waters.

Ram’s passion for the ocean is reflected in his published works. He co-authored Guide to Anilao and Legends Beneath the Waves: Philippines with Andrew Marriott—two acclaimed books that showcase the country’s vibrant reefs and historic wrecks. His photography has been featured in prestigious publications, including Philippine Coral Reefs by Dr. Perry Aliño, Philippine Caves by the DENR’s Biodiversity Management Bureau, UW360’s Black is the New Blue Vol. 2, and Watch Tubbataha, a collaborative project by Philip Stein and the Tubbataha Management Office.

Ram’s images and articles have appeared in Scuba Diver, Dive Photo Guide, EZ Dive, Scubanet, Travel Now, and Scubaverse, among others. He is also a multi-awardee in the early editions of the Anilao Shootout, globally recognized as the premier live underwater photography competition.

As an explorer, Ram collaborates with the Philtech Dive Team, local government units, and the Departments of Tourism in both the Philippines and Brunei to discover and promote historic wrecks, underwater cave systems, and uncharted reefs.

Beyond diving, Ram actively supports the global dive community through speaking engagements and judging roles in photography competitions. On land, he enjoys family life with his wife, Geraldine—also a diver—and their three adventurous children: Yana, Mara, and Dylan.
